When designing a turntable you are faced with  choices regarding materials, casters, and construction methods. Our Turntable Template is a surefire design that is easy to construct, spins effortlessly, and is affordable.

The Turntable Template includes everything a technical director or shop foreman needs to start ordering parts and CNC’ing plywood sheets.

Start with the Pivot, spin with the Revolver, and use our Turntable Template to build the platform in between.

Complete Drawing Package

The no-cost drawing package includes fully editable AutoCAD and Vectorworks files. Drop them into your scenic design or send them directly to your shop. 

You’ll also find CNC files that can be loaded into your own ShopBot (or other CNC router table), or send the files to your local CNC shop for cutting. 

You’ll end up with a precisely cut sub-frame that is quick to layout and add casters. The frameless 2-layer lid aligns with the Pivot and integrates edge sweeps for a beefy contact pad for the Revolver’s drive wheel. 

You’ll also find thorough assembly instructions with a step-by-step guide to fastening the sub-frame to the stage floor, building the lid, and securing the Revolver to drive the outside edge.

Bill of Materials

The Turntable Template includes a complete list of supplies, materials, and tools necessary for construction. Recommendations for key components like casters and fasteners take the guesswork out of specifying parts.

The BOM includes suggested vendors to help you find the parts you’ll need with less searching and guessing. You’ll even find cost estimates so you can easily earmark funds from your budget.

Customize For Your Needs

The Turntable Template is designed for a 20′ diameter turntable. It’s a complete package and can be used as-is, if that size fits your needs. 

But if you need to go a bit larger or smaller, it can be the starting point of your design. With the CAD drawings, you’ll have a complete view of our recommended approach to building the caster “spider”, plywood lid, and placement of the casters. You’re free to modify, adjust, and re-work the design to fit your production needs.
